How airlines allocate resources to social media

This infographic provides a fascinating insight into how airlines are using social media to protect and manage their brand within the social media ecosystem. What’s clear from this infographic is that airlines are taking an integrated approach to their social media management with multifunctional teams pulled from all departments including corporate communications, marketing, customer service, e-commerce and interactive.

The infographic shows an interesting split between how different airlines are using Twitter and Facebook, with some airlines like AirAsia achieving huge success on Facebook with over 1m fans. Not a bad achievement with 4 staff, compared to KLM who have only managed to achieve 200k fans with a team of 23 staff.
